When did your company begin?

David Hegenbarth: Federal Gear started back in 1914, joining the industrial boom that dominated the era.

Can you give us a brief description of your business?

David Hegenbarth: Federal Gear is an integrated custom gear manufacturing company serving businesses and individuals throughout North America. We offer specialized services and products in virtually any industrial or commercial application.

How did your company end up finding its niche?

David Hegenbarth: Federal Gear has grown steadily over the past century, evolving steadily to fit the needs of our changing clients.

Can you tell us a bit about your education background and work history?

David Hegenbarth: I graduated from Cornell with a BS in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering, and the University of Michigan with an MBA in Corporate Strategy and Operations. I have a strong employment history in sales and management. It has been a lifetime of commitment to the manufacturing industry and business management.

What is your biggest challenge in running your business?

David Hegenbarth: Staying up-to-date with the latest technology.

How has technology and the internet impacted how Federal Gear conducts business?

David Hegenbarth: We have been making a significant effort to improve our communications and presence through online media, though the transition has been steady and measured. We use multiple communication channels to market ourselves, but we rely heavily on our reputation as well.
